Flying from Los Angeles to Vienna: tips and information for your trip

Fly with us from Los Angeles, the City of Angels, to Vienna, the City of Music on the Blue Danube. From the airport Vienna-Schwechat you can take City Airport Train, a regional train or a bus to downtown Vienna. The well-maintained public transport system of Vienna is the all you need to get around the beautiful city. Once founded by the Romans as Vindobona, Vienna had been the center of two empires, the Holy Roman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire of the 19th century. The powerful Habsburg dynasty made sure that their hometown reflected their sense of greatness by building impressive palaces and public buildings. Hofburg Palace and Schönbrunn Palace were their centers of power and splendor. In the Treasury of the Hofburg you will encounter the hoard of the Habsburgs, including the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire from 962 and the Holy Lance. From their times as rulers of Spain you can still experience the famous equestrian performances of the Spanish Riding School, which is also part of the Hofburg palace complex.
Vienna’s mighty gothic cathedral, the Stephansdom, is the center of the charming Old Town with cobblestone alleys and lovely market squares like the famous Naschmarkt. Vienna’s nickname “City of Music” is well deserved: fans of classical music want to visit the Domgasse 5 in the Old Town, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his family lived for three years during his time in Vienna. You will also find a museum for Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Schubert and the Strauss dynasty of composers. Listen to their music in an opera in the Staatsoper, a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and a ball where you can dance the Waltz all night long. They are all buried in Vienna’s Central Cemetery, a great example of the ubiquitous Vienna Art Nouveau architecture. In the bizarre Museum of the cemetery, you can see the original invitation to Beethoven’s funeral, but also a sit-up-coffin and a streetcar for the dead. In the baroque Belvedere Palace, you can see the works from Austrian artists Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka. Visit one of the traditional coffee houses and enjoy the quaint atmosphere, but also the unique Viennese cuisine, a crossover from all the territories once reigned from here. Enjoy Vienna with all your senses!
This is a seasonal connection that can be booked at any time.
