Flying to Edinburgh: tips and information for your trip
The “City of Edinburgh”, as it is officially known, is not only the capital of Scotland, but also a hot tip for a vacation that leaves nothing to be desired. If you fly to Edinburgh, you can expect great sights, an impressive history, a cosmopolitan harbor district and, last but not least, the famous Scottish hospitality.
Edinburgh is located on the south side of the estuary called “Firth of Forth” in the east of the country. Almost 525,000 people live in Scotland's second largest city, which has been settled since prehistoric times. The exciting history of both the city and the entire country can be discovered not only in numerous museums, but also in many places in the cityscape itself. The Gaelic name of the city is “Dùn Èideann” and it is just as recommendable for a city trip as it is as a starting point for a round trip across the entire island.
