Current information and flight irregularities
Due to a strike announced by the trade union Verdi in Germany on Monday, 10 March 2025, there will be adjustments to the Austrian flight schedule. According to current information, all flight connections to and from Germany will be affected by disruptions or outright cancellations on this day. Passengers who have booked a flight to or from Germany and who provided a mobile phone number or email address when booking will be proactively informed about flight adjustments and rebookings.
In addition, passengers are asked to check their flight status in good time on the austrian.com website, the Austrian App or Travel ID (with registration). Passengers who have booked through an (online) travel agency should contact the respective travel agency.
Lufthansa Group and its airlines are not collective bargaining partners in this dispute with the Verdi union, but - like many other airlines - are affected.
There will be delays and extensive cancellations on all Lufthansa Group Airlines flights to and from the affected airports on the day of the strike.
Lufthansa Group has published a special flight schedule. The aim is to be able to return to a stable flight schedule as quickly as possible after the end of the strike.
What travellers can do:
To ensure travellers' planning security, Lufthansa Group Airlines is offering all guests whose flights are cancelled due to the Verdi strike a free rebooking to a flight at another time or, alternatively, free cancellation of the ticket.
Passengers should check the status of their flight at Flight Status & Itinerary | Austrian Airlines in good time before travelling to the airport.
Lufthansa Group Airlines will inform its passengers who are affected by a cancellation. The prerequisite for this is the provision of contact details, such as email or telephone number, in the booking.
In the event of a cancellation, Lufthansa Group guests will automatically be rebooked onto another flight free of charge. This rebooking can also be adjusted again if desired. Alternatively, the Austrian Chat Assistant is available.
If the flight was booked with a tour operator or travel agency, guests can also contact the tour operator or travel agency directly.
