Quick baggage drop-off thanks to electronic bag tags

We can provide you with an electronic bag tag instead of a paper baggage tag while travelling. You can already prepare your baggage tag at home this way, and easily and quickly drop-off your baggage at the airport.

Do you own an electronic baggage tag from BAGTAG, BagID or a RIMOWA suitcase with an integrated bag tag? Then you can use this service on your next Austrian Airlines flight.

You can prepare the digital baggage tags conveniently at home through your smartphone and attach them to your travel baggage. At your departure airport your baggage can then be quickly and conveniently dropped off at the baggage machines or at Fast Bag Drop-off, depending on availability.

How to use your electronic bag tag

Check in as usual for your Austrian flight via online check-in or the Austrian app.

Then, open the BAGTAG or BagID app and follow the provider’s instructions.

Frequently asked questions about electronic bag tags

You need an electronic display from the companies BAGTAG, BagID or RIMOWA, as well as an Austrian Airlines flight booking code, to create an electronic bag tag. You will find your booking code on your passenger receipt or your boarding pass.

Please note that you can only create your electronic bag tags from 23 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Due to legal requirements, electronic bag tags cannot be used for some flight connections.

If you are not using your electronic bag tag for your flight please ensure that your device is off or packed in your suitcase.

If your booking contains more than one flight segment it will be automatically displayed on your electronic bag tag.

All electronic bag tags supported by Austrian can be taken on board without any problems.
