Frequently asked questions about Flight Booking
General questions concerning bookings
First select the option “Multiple routes/open-jaw flights” when searching for flights. You can then add the desired connections.
Please enter the name and telephone number or email address of the person you wish to be notified in case of an accident. This data will only be used for this purpose and will be deleted after the last specified flight.
Please note: If you rebook your flight you will need to re-enter the data of your contact person.
To do this, please book a changeable fare, select a return date and change it according to your wishes. Please note that fees may be incurred for rebooking - detailed information can be obtained during booking.
You can also use "One-way flight" to book an outbound flight only.
General terms and conditions
Depending on the country of departure, flights can be booked between 72 hours and no later than three hours before departure, if your chosen fare allows this.
Yes, this is possible. Please visit the Miles & More website.
Infants (INF)
- We define infants as children under two years of age.
- Infant fare: Generally, infants pay 10% of the adult rate on Austrian Airlines.
- Please note that there may be country-specific, fare-specific or seasonal variations (based on the country where the ticket was purchased).
- On board, infants have no entitlement to their own seat. However, for adults who are travelling with an infant we try to keep the adjacent seat free for as long as possible. If you are travelling with an infant and want your infant to have their own seat, you have the option of choosing the child fare. In this instance, please contact our Service Centre.
- For safety reasons, only one infant can travel per adult. The responsible person must be over 18 years of age or over 16 as long as the journey is as a family with adults.
- For safety reasons, infants who will turn two years of age during the travel period must be booked as children (with their own seat). Example: You are travelling from 1 to 20 November 2019 with your child, who was born on 15 November 2017.
Children (CHD)
- We define children as passengers between two and eleven years of age. That is children who have not reached their twelfth birthday.
- For safety reasons, infants who will turn two years of age between the outward and return flight must be booked as children (with their own seat).
- Child fare: Generally, children pay 75% of the adult rate on Austrian Airlines.
- Please note that there may be country-specific, fare-specific or seasonal variations (based on the country where the ticket was purchased).
- Unlike infants, children are entitled to their own seat on board.
- Children who are not yet five years old must always be accompanied by an adult. This responsible person must be at least 18 years of age, unless they are a sibling over the age of 16. Children between five and eleven years must be accompanied by a person over 12 years of age. If this is not the case, the provisions for unaccompanied minors apply.
- Children who will turn 12 years during the travel period pay the child fare. In this instance, please contact our Service Centre.
Children between the ages of two and five years may only fly when accompanied by an adult. Children between five and eleven years may fly alone as “unaccompanied minors”.
