Green Fares
Travel more sustainably now. Take advantage of our new Green Fares offering to make your own flights within Europe and on selected intercontinental routes even more sustainable1.
Our new Green Fares also earn you extra Points and let you enjoy flexible rebooking options, plus additional benefits of our Economy or Business Saver fares.
Our goal is to connect Austria with Europe and the rest of the world. We’re introducing innovative measures to make flying more sustainable and ensure that people and cultures stay connected both now and in the future. To this end, we have an ambitious goal in mind: to fly carbon-neutral by 2050 and to halve our net CO2 emissions by as early as 2030. We’re investing in new, more fuel-efficient aircraft, constantly optimising our flight operations and increasing our use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs).
Reduce and offset: Green Fares throughout Europe
Selecting one of the Economy Green and Business Green fares will reduce 20% of the individual flight-related CO2 emissions through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 80% of the CO2 emissions to an equivalent extent through a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects. This 20:80 combination of carbon reduction and offsetting is a fundamental part of the Green Fares on European flights and allows more sustainable air travel.
Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes
We now also offer Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes served by the Lufthansa Group to make your journeys more sustainable.
Selecting one of the Economy Green, Premium Eco Green, Business Green or First Green fares on intercontinental routes will reduce 10% of the individual flight-related CO2 emissions through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 90% of the individual flight-related CO2 emissions through a contribution to climate protection projects.
Available on the following routes: Frankfurt–Bangalore (FRA–BLR), Munich–Incheon (MUC–ICN), Brussels–Kinshasa (BRU–FIH), Zurich–Los Angeles (ZRH–LAX), Frankfurt–Miami (FRA–MIA), Singapore–London (SIN–LON), São Paulo–Zurich (GRU–ZRH), Nairobi–Frankfurt (NBO–FRA), Bangkok–Vienna (BKK–VIE), Hong Kong–London (HKG–LON) and Paris–Bangkok (PAR–BKK).
Green Fares on SWISS domestic flights
On domestic flights between Zurich and Geneva, SWISS exclusively offers fares that already include offsetting of the CO2 emissions. This is achieved through a combination of the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects, of 20% and 80% respectively. In addition, passengers on this route have the option of choosing a Green Fare with an even higher proportion of SAFs: this will reduce the individual flight-related CO2 emissions by 50% through the use of sustainable aviation fuels and offset the remaining 50% via climate protection projects.
The adjusted fares can only be booked for flight tickets between Geneva and Zurich. They are not available on feeder or connecting flights.
