Travellers who do not require a visa to enter or transit the UK for a short stay:

An Electronic Travel Authorisation (UK ETA) for the UK is a digital permit required for travellers who do not need a visa but are visiting or transiting the UK. Linked to the traveller’s passport, the UK ETA must be obtained before travelling. The UK ETA does not replace a visa for those who require one but is mandatory for travellers without a visa or other immigration status, including children and infants. A UK ETA is valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes earlier.

More information about the UK ETA:

Please ensure that:

  • You obtain your UK ETA at least 3 days before travelling
  • You use your current passport in the application
  • Every traveller has their own UK ETA, including children and infants

UK ETA Enrolment:

  • Gulf Cooperation Council Nationals: Implemented
  • Non-European Nationals: Effective 08th January 2025, application from 27th November 2024
  • European Nationals: Effective 02nd April 2025, application from 05th March 2025

Travellers who require a visa to enter the UK and UK residents:

The UK is moving to a fully digital immigration system. As part of this transition, the UK has introduced the eVisa - a digital permit that replaces many physical documents, such as biometric residence permits (BRPs), biometric residence cards (BRC), and visa stickers in passports. The eVisa is linked directly to the traveller’s travel document (passport) and can be accessed through a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. However, we advise our passengers to continue to carry their valid physical immigration documents with them while traveling internationally.

Please ensure that:

  • You create a UKVI account
  • Your current passport is linked to your UKVI account
  • Your mobile device is available and charged upon arrival at the airport, to enable you to present your valid
