Yes, you can book these free of charge as a special meal on flights of over 3 hours and 45 minutes. You can book your meal choice directly online when you book your flight or via your travel agency. You can then make your booking online under My Bookings.

There are a limited number of meals for infants and children under two years of age on Austrian long-haul flights. Baby food is available on all Austrian long-haul flights, but we do recommend that you bring your child’s favourite food or a bottle with you. We will be happy to warm these up for you on board and provide plenty of water for your baby’s bottles.

Do you have an upcoming long-haul flight and would still like to ensure your infant gets some restful sleep? You can book a baby’s cot with us free of charge. This cot measures 84 x 40 x 18 cm and is suitable for infants up to a maximum of 11 kg in weight and 70 cm tall. We will of course provide you with a suitable blanket and pillow.

The cot must not be used during take-off, landing and major turbulence for safety reasons.

Please book the cot and pay for the extra legroom seat required in good time via our Service Centre.

You can fly with a healthy infant from seven days after the birth. However, you should note that the mother has a higher risk of thrombosis after the birth. Please consult your treating doctor.

Yes, this is possible in principle. We recommend the earlier the better. The best option is to reserve them when booking the flight. You can also select your seats later under My Bookings or at check-in.

In accordance with the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) regulations, we’d like to make you aware that you are entitled to free advance seat reservation on flights to and from Italy if you meet the following conditions:

  • you are travelling with a child between the ages of two and 12 years, and/or
  • you are a passenger with a disability or accompanying a passenger with a disability.

The Lufthansa Group will allocate you adjacent seats at check-in free of charge.

If your child has a cold, the effects of air pressure can be eased by administering nose drops. Ideally, you should administer the drops half an hour before departure and half an hour before landing.
